Nutrition counselling, breastfeeding support, infant nutrition & feeding fall within the scope of practice of a Registered Dietitian and may therefore be eligible for reimbursement under extended health benefits for dietitian services. Coverage varies by plan, and Clients are encouraged to confirm their eligibility with their insurance provider.

We provide  direct billing to some insurance companies  if your plan includes coverage for  Dietitian or Nutritionist services.
For details about your coverage (e.g., dollar amount covered per visit or whether a doctor’s referral is required), please contact your  insurance provider or employer. If a physician’s referral is required, your doctor may complete our referral form, available here.

Dietitian services are often eligible for reimbursement through Health Spending Accounts (HSA)  – this is because Registered Dietitians are recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency  as medical practitioners.  We recommend that Clients confirm this type of coverage with their employer. Eligible out-of-pocket dietitian fees may be claimed as a medical expense on your tax return. However, Clients are encouraged to  consult a qualified tax professional  for advice specific to their individual tax situation. For more info, please go here.

If direct billing is not available,  we will provide a receipt after your consultation so you can submit a claim and attempt reimbursement through your private insurance plan or HSA.
